Can anyone tell me more about Bill's class in carmel?
Class is every Sunday before the Tao meeting, does it not meet when the Tao meeting is off?
What style is taught (not that it matters)? How is a regular class structured? How many people are involved? Are you a close group (close friendship)? Do you discuss the Tao and other fun stuff? _________________ "Be like water my friend." ~Bruce Lee |

Thank you Becca for your very prompt response. I have frequented this website already, and I also find Bill to be a joy to listen to on my Sunday's. I do not know what to do with myself for the next two weekends.
I was just hoping for anything "extra" I can find.
I am going to enroll soon, but I have a weekend engagement coming up, and I don't want to begin the class only to miss one. I want to show that I am dedicated.
Many thanks,

Thank you kindly again. Have you ever met Bill? What is he like in person? Are his students as friendly and personable as you are? I have seen him post on here before, but I am assuming he doesn't have time to frequent the forum?
How did you become a moderator? How are you connected to Bill and Derek? _________________ "Be like water my friend." ~Bruce Lee |

Thank you
Sadly i have not met bill, though i would dearly love to.
I have only 'met' bill online, mainly because i live in the UK and bill in Indiana
I would imagine that bills students would be welcoming to newcomers

hello,
sorry it took me so long to get back on this, as i have been quite busy this week.
i have been a student of bill's for just over 2 years, and feel fortunate to have a good teacher so close to home.
the classes are pretty informal (only the most senior student actually wears his tiaji "uniform"!), and are held every week. there is a core group of about 5 taiji and tao students, with a few more people that show up when they can, although that behavior is somewhat frowned upon given the nature of the taiji we are learning. ("temple style" taiji quan and kung-fu, and all the trimmings, qi gong, etc.)
bill is a very happy person, and quite fair. he does have high expectations for his students as far as independent practice and dedication. he will not allow someone to show up here and there and expect to continue with the rest of the class- the taiji does not lend itself to that style of practice.
as far as tao study, the whole class is heavily based in taoist philosophy and the temple meeting is attended regularly (every sunday) by the same 5 or so students. it used to be a requirement that taiji students attend the tao study group, but that has sinced been waived becasue of the schedule needs of some dedicated students.
our schedule is temple meeting on sunday from 1:30-3:30, and taiji class downtown indianapolis from 6-9 p.m. at the earth house on east st. if you are interested in becoming a student, you must first talk to bill. he no longer allows drop-ins, and new students must be "interviewed" first...don't worry, i don't think anyone has been turned away!! it is a great group of folks, and we all have a good time and enjoy each others company. i encourage you to email or call him if you haven't already, as he is a good person and teacher, and is always welcoming serious students.
any other questions, feel free to post them and i will try to make my responses more timely!
